Cape Cod XC Running Camp 2020 Summer Update - May 28, 2020
Safety is paramount to CCXCRC – always has been, always will be. As our team works tirelessly to meet and/or exceed the CDC recommended standards and local health department requirements, we are committed to communicating these to you – our valued camper families and parents. We know it is critical to keep you updated on what we are learning, improving and implementing as we learn more about COVID-19. We want you to understand and feel confident in the steps we are taking to minimize risk for our campers and families. Our CCXCRC team is here to answer any questions you might have and assist you in any way.
We feature former NCAA and New Balance Nationals (NBN) All-Americans who will serve as counselors. Collectively, our staff features over 200 years of running, racing and coaching experience, led by Camp Director: Sean Robinson (2015 New Jersey State Coaches Association Hall of Fame Coach)
and his team of NJSIAA State Championship coaches.
CCXCRC offers an unique
team building competition unlike any other camp in the country. Developing leadership skills is what we do best. At the end of the camp week, we have a 2.5 mile barefoot race on the sand flats of Cape Cod Bay. The Snake River Race is a fun but challenging competition.

CCXCRC is located directly across from Nickerson State Park and the Cape Cod Rail Trail which is a 22 mile trail that crosses through 6 Cape Cod towns and numerous state and national parks. Our CCXCRC high school cross country teams and coaches enjoy the opportunity to establish the base mileage needed for a successful distance running season via wide tree-covered trails and camper check-points. In addition, team tempo runs, cruise intervals, fartleks, and threshold repeats are commonly prescribed directly from the camper's high school coach. The CCXCRC model offers any high school cross country coach the ability to train their athletes either remotely or via being a CCXCRC staff member which makes our running camp experience effective and special.

Perhaps the most successful athletics program at Morris Hills is its men's cross country and track and field teams, both of which have been very successful in New Jersey, due in very large part to the efforts of head cross country coach Sean Robinson, who took the position in 2002.
Robinson took the head indoor track and field coaching position in 2006. In that year, the Scarlet Knights won every major championship they entered (conference, county, state group and state group relay), the first time that had happened in county history. The Scarlet Knights repeated the feat in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Since becoming head coach, Robinson has led the Scarlet Knights to 10 NJSIAA State Championships, 20 NJSIAA Sectional Championships, 3 NJSIAA State Relay Championships, 10 Conference Championships, and 15 County Titles. He also has 2 State Coach of the Year, 1 NFHS State Coach of the Year Honor, 5 Area Coach of the Year Honors, and 7 Excellence in Coaching Awards under his belt. He was inducted into the NJSCA Hall of Fame in March 2015.
Morris Hills has also had over
34 High School All-American Honors distributed to its XC/TF athletes since 1999, largely with the success of the school's 4 x mile relay, 4 x 800 relay and shuttle hurdle relay teams. At the 2009 Nike National Outdoor Track Championship the Morris Hills 4x800 won the race to secure the title of National Champions after having the US#2 All-Time Performance of 7:31.60 (breaking the national record) at the Penn Relays.
James has been involved with Cape Cod XC Running Camp since it started in 2008 and has extensive knowledge of the trails in Nickerson State Park and the surrounding area. He is currently a Yale University Environmental Affairs Technician for the Yale Environmental Health & Safety Department.
James ran for the storied Amity Regional High School Cross Country and Track Programs of Woodbridge, Connecticut which allows him the understanding of the commitment necessary to be successful in our great sport.
